Default Rainfall Intensity

Hi Dr Quek,

Can you explain to me the relationship between the rainfall intensity and the time of concentration?

Why is it in my calculation, the rainfall intensity are different from one catchment area to the other catchment area even though they are located next to each other?

Is it logic that the rainfall intensity can differ so much between these two catchment areas (e.g. 180mm/hr and 45mm/hr)?

Thank you.

Kind regards,

Hafiz Alhadi

Rainfall intensity can be dependent on the time of concentration which determines the duration of the rainfall.

This is quite common as the two catchments may be located close to each other but the time of concentration may be different due to different size, stream length etc.

Yes, quite possible.
